Our automaker reported a record 1.4-percent sales increase over last year, making 81 months of consecutive growth and defining it as what could be called best month so far to purchase or lease a new Subaru. In fact, August was good nearly across the board, for models from Impreza and the all-new Ascent to SUVs like Outback and Forester. But the "Confidence in Motion" creed is about more than just numbers. We at JK Subaru can think of five good reasons for the six-star emblem's success, actually.

First, Subaru comes highly rated for longevity and value. Just ask the auto research experts at Kelley Blue Book, among others. Each is built to hold its value and stand up to depreciation even after several ownership years, and it shows. For instance, since 2010, our manufacturer has taken home a total of 31 Residual Value Awards from TrueCar Inc.'s analytics division, ALG. Five came in 2018 alone, earning Subaru the title of Top Mainstream Brand. Value's one thing, though. You can see it in practice, too. Check out Subaru Rally Team USA sometime. They're 2016's Overall Rally America Champion and the recipient of ten titles, earned by besting some of the toughest terrain.

Second, Subaru shows itself equally well-regarded by industry safety authorities. Many 2018 Subaru cars and SUVs, for example, received 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK and 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), among other accolades.

Next, you can expect Subaru to be nearly unmatched in capability. Our automaker's proprietary, permanent, and always-on AWD system, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, comes standard throughout almost the entire lineup; its high-octane BRZ sports coupe has a thrilling rear-wheel drivetrain. Other automakers, on the other hand, offer theirs most often only in higher trims; they're electronic rather than structural, like Subaru; they have more moving parts, and this often results in more maintenance. Bring the unique, horizontally laid-out or "flat" SUBARU BOXER engine and its laterally moving pistons into the mix, and the result is clear: a low center of gravity, expert balance, and a strong command of traction atop rough terrain and through rougher weather. This, few other car, truck, and SUV manufacturers can match.

Further, when you own a Subaru, you own technological prowess at the cutting-edge. The SUBARU STARLINK infotainment suite brings together multimedia access and control and STARLINK Safety and Security connected services. That means your favorite road mixes and access to apps galore dovetails the ability to call upon emergency and roadside assistance and more when you need it. Plus, MySubaru and STARLINK app support makes it easy to manage it all right from your smartphone.

Finally, for every new Subaru that factors into not just these but any sales figures, Subaru contributes to the greater community it's proud to serve, and we do, too! We have a name for that dedication: the Subaru Love Promise. In following it, we work with and support a range of environmental, educational, and health organizations, collecting donations for worthy causes and volunteering to give back to the neighborhoods we love.

So, what's the best reason to buy a Subaru? Your own, of course. And, with how much Subaru love our automaker's customers have shown lately, it's a better time than ever to own one.
