The New 2019 Subaru Forester is Soon to Arrive in Nederland, TX!

The New York International Auto Show revealed it to fanfare on March 28. So, what can we expect from the latest, one of the ruggedest, and most widely acclaimed wagon-based compact SUVs-become-modern crossovers out there? Only, said Subaru, the "roomiest, most capable, most versatile" generation so far. Take a tour of the most exciting features and improvements!

Set to appear in base, Premium, Limited, and Touring trims, as well as an all-new Sport, Subaru Forester has been, for one, fully redesigned on the new Subaru Global Platform, making extensive use of high-strength steel to better its crash safety, create a more peaceful interior, and deliver a drive that's more confident than ever.

That'll owe, in part, to an updated SUBARU BOXER® engine, too, putting out 182 horsepower, an increase from last year. Ditto to standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which now features a standard X-MODE and Hill Descent Control, all of which come together with a tall 8.7 inches of ground clearance to provide reliable understeer and oversteer compensation across slippery, uneven, and obstacle-strewn surfaces.

Of course, the new Forester ride will be a fuel-efficient one to boot, thanks to a standard Lineartronic® CVT that should make possible up to an EPA-estimated 33 mpg on the highway. As will it be the safe bet. EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, now standard, will simplify monitoring traffic, using cruise control for safe distancing, and staying aware of lane sway, offering intelligent feedback. The Pre-Collision Braking feature is returning, too, capable of dropping the full force of your brake system during emergency halts.

But there are a few cutting-edge safety features joining the 2019 Forester repertoire as well. One, an all-new DriverFocus system, which can recognize up to five different drivers and recall their seat position, climate, and outside mirror position settings, helping to reduce distracted driving. Forester is, in fact, the only small SUV to currently offer such advanced tech. Two, Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are once more available, as is a Rear-Vision Camera standard. Plus, with available Reverse Automatic Braking in the mix, avoiding rear collisions should be a lot easier. Finally, SUBARU STARLINK Safety and Security, our automaker's Automatic Collision Notification and SOS Emergency Assistance suite, gets some improvements. The first is an all-new Remote Engine Start with Climate Control feature, manageable using your smartphone. The second is a new STARLINK Concierge service, which offers personal assistance with navigation, making reservations at restaurants, and scheduling service appointments.

But let's not forget the Forester hallmark: its inviting interior, composed of high-quality, soft-touch materials and now providing improved space for passengers, up to 111.9 cubic feet, as well as a big bump in rear legroom. With standard automatic climate control, second-row seating coming available heated, rear air conditioning vents, and USB ports in the back, it ought to make for quite the accommodating ride for everyone. You can also expect better cargo capacity, too, that is, up to 76.1 cubic feet, your quarry accessible via an extra-wide rear gate that's available powered for hands-free opening and closing, and raised roof rails will also be available to take on extras. The best part? You'll be able to open and close it, as well as lock up, with a single button's touch. Forester is still tech-savvy on top, offering a SUBARU STARLINK&#trade; Multimedia system, enhanced for the model year, that now builds in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard -- an improvement on the last one. Plus, an 8-inch version is available with built-in, voice-activated navigation powered by TomTom for help getting around on that extended vacation.

Last but not at all least, there's a new Sport trim, and performance enthusiasts ought to love it. It'll offer striking 18-inch wheels, LED lighting, welcome roof rack tie-down points for cargo, an SI-Drive system with dynamic drive settings, and an awesome new Enhanced X-MODE® offering optimizations for snow, dirt, and mud.
