Capability and Performance

The Crosstrek also offers an available 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 182-horsepower. The HR-V only is available with the standard 1.8-liter engine. The new Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid pairs the standard 2.0-liter engine with an 8.8 kWh battery, producing 148-horsepower combined and providing you with impressive fuel economy, including 17 miles of all-electric driving range. The new Honda HR-V doesn't offer a hybrid model.
Safety
The Crosstrek comes with the Eyesight® Driver Assist Technology system, featuring driving aids like pre-collision braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more, on every model that has a continuously variable automatic transmission. The new Honda HR-V also offers a similar suite of safety features, but they aren't available on the base model.
Exterior and Interior
Above, we noted that the Crosstrek enjoys plenty of ground clearance in its lineup, with 8.3-inches allowing you to go over obstacles in your way. The Honda-HR-V isn't as well-equipped, making it a less-than-ideal choice for off-road adventures. The Crosstrek also comes standard with roof rails to help you stow luggage in a cargo carrier when you need a little more storage space. The Honda HR-V doesn't offer the same features on its base model.

The Crosstrek comes with your choice of a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen display or an available 8-inch display. The HR-V comes with a standard 5-inch without touchscreen capability or an available 7-inch touchscreen display.
