For more than two decades, the Subaru Forester has been that unique compact crossover SUV with standard all-wheel drive. Couple that with a generous amount of tech features, a spacious interior, and good fuel economy numbers, and it's no surprise that the Forester continues to be a solid choice within its class as it goes into its 2021 model year.
Subaru offers five Forester trim levels to choose from, which are the following:
Forester Base
The 2021 Subaru Forester relies on a drivetrain that combines a 182-horsepower 2.5-liter flat-four engine and a continuously variable transmission. With the gas sipping of the former and gearless operation of the latter, the Forester's fuel efficiency is among the best in its class, at an EPA-estimated 26 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The previously mentioned all-wheel drive involves engine power being sent to all four wheels to keep them planted on the ground during slippery situations.
A five-seater, the 2021 Forester supplies 35.4 cubic feet of cargo room, with the ability to fold down the rear seats to maximize it at 76.1 cubic feet. That's more than what most other compact crossovers offer. Infotainment is provided by Subaru's Starlink multimedia system, which is headed by a 6.5-inch touchscreen and integrates features such as four speakers, an HD Radio receiver, a single-disc CD player, Bluetooth®, two USB ports for connecting mobile devices, smartphone integration via Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, and trial subscriptions to SiriusXM Radio and SiriusXM Travel Link.
The EyeSight suite delivers several driver-assistance technologies, which comprise:
- Pre-collision braking  Â
- Adaptive cruise control  Â
- Lane centering assist  Â
- Sway warning  Â
- Lane departure warning
The Forester gets a rearview camera for parking guidance, and seven airbags are present for crash protection.
Forester Premium
A notch above the base-level model, the Premium is designed to be a more convenient variant. Its keyless access system enables door unlocking by just having the key fob on you, and you can start the engine by pressing the push button next to the steering wheel. Entertainment is boosted with two additional speakers and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat provide Nederland shoppers a touch of comfort and luxury. Performance-wise, the Premium gains hill descent control for a safe drive down a slope and X-Mode to enhance traction ability.
Forester Sport
For a sporty feel, there's the aptly named Sport trim. It comes with exclusive racing-style seats with orange contrast stitching. Also included are a pair of USB ports in the rear for charging mobile devices and several more driver-assistance technologies, which include the following:
- Automatic high beams Â
- Blind-spot monitoring Â
- Rear-cross traffic alert Â
- Lane change assistÂ
Forester Limited
The Limited trim level takes the 2021 Subaru Forester farther into luxury territory. This is evidenced by the cloth seat trim replaced by leather. In addition, the 6.5-inch touchscreen is supplanted by a larger, eight-inch one, climate controls are added on the front passenger side in addition to the driver's to create a dual-zone climate control system, and the liftgate gains power operation.
Forester Touring
The Touring is the Forester's top-of-the-line model. As a result, it has several exclusive features Beaumont shoppers will love, which include the following:
- Rear-seat heating Â
- Steering-wheel heating Â
- Front-passenger-seat eight-way power adjustability Â
- SiriusXM Traffic trial subscription Â
- Navigation system Â
- Nine-speaker Harman Kardon® sound system Â
- Reverse automatic braking Â
- Distraction mitigation system
