- The RAV4 gets a slight nod on standard fuel economy, offering slightly more than the Outback in the city and on the highway. However, the Outback provides you with 18.5 gallons of fuel capacity, compared to 14 gallons in the RAV4, allowing you to travel much further on a full tank in the Outback.
